Tumeric - The most wonderful anti-inflammatory.. Start planning your trip and include this in your diet.
Photo: www.rawforbeauty.comFantastic health properties of this fabulous plant rhizome. Buy the powder in bulk and put a tablespoon a day in a smoothie. Use any ingredient like coconut milk, nut butter or a tsp of fish oil (brands Carlson or Nordic Naturals) in the smoothie and it will help with absorption of the turmeric and increase the anti-inflammatory action.  Careful in handling turmeric powder it is also a fabric dye so it can stain. While you're traveling or if you're shy of the mess, then capsules can be an option.  Look for a product  called  Curcumin and I like the ones that are combined with another anti-inflammatory called bromelain (from pineapple) for better absorption. Curcumin has been identified as the most active anti-inflammatory constituent of turmeric so you'll take less of this product that the whole plant powder. Reasons to use the powder is that you're taking in the whole plant that offers other beneficial properties than are not included in the capsule.  Sources for it are your local herb store (look for Organic) or you may buy it on iherb.com at a discounted price by the pound or in capsules. Curcumin & Fish oils are available here too.  Use the code BAC483 at checkout for up to a $10 discount on your first order.
